Jeffrey Carl Jones is the son of a Conscientious Objector who did not participated in World War 2.
Upon arrival at college in 1965, Jones quickly got involved in the anti war movement. Soon he joined the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and spoke at numerous colleges, while traveling to SDS conventions Nationwide. In 67, he quit college and became the New York director of the SDS.

In 1967, he traveled to Cambodia to meet with representatives of North Vietnam and the National Liberation Front (NLF).
In 1969, upon the dissolution of the SDS, Jones became a founding member of the Weathermen (Weather Underground Organization or WUO).
Jones was arrested for participating in the “Days of Rage” where they broke windows, attack the police, and created all kinds of havoc.
After the explosion that took the lives of three weathermen in Greenwich Village in New York, Jones along with the rest of the Weathermen went underground and started running from the police and the FBI. It is rumored that he participated in several bombings, and he signed some of the communiqués that usually followed the bombings.
In 1981 he was arrested, and received probation and community service.
Today, he is the head of “Jeff Jones Strategies”, a consulting firm where he uses the skills learned during his “community organizer” and weatherman days to help local organizations achieve their goals. He is also the director of the Apollo Alliance in New York. According to Harry Reid, the Apollo Alliance helped write the Obama Administration’s stimulus Bill.
