Carl Davidson:
As a member of Chicagoans Against War on Iraq (CAWI), Davidson help organize the rally where then Senator Obama spoke for the first time against the war in Iraq; and also a member of Progressives for Obama.
Davidson claims that he was one of the primary organizers of the Venceremos Brigades (VB) whose official purpose was to visit Cuba and help harvest sugar cane among the Cubans. Unofficially, the trips were used by Cuban Intelligence to spread propaganda and recruit the naïve American youth in order to spy for Cuba. Some of the members of the Students
for Democratic Society (SDS), participated in the trips, also receiving special training from representatives from North Vietnam, China, the National Liberation Front (NFL), and Cuban Intelligence.
Davidson visited Cuba again in 1968 to meet with Fidel Castro. Afterwards, he became heavily involved with the SDS, and the Weather Underground.
